Thank you for joining us at Plumas Negras!

Plumas Negras is based on the stories of the East Salinas community. Cornerstone Theater and playwright Juliette Carrillo have spent the past year collecting stories from local residents, storytellers and leaders. The community has remained part of the development of the play through interviews, story circles, and community readings.

Rooted in the fertile landscape of Salinas, Plumas Negras tells the story of three generations of hard-working women as they struggle to forge better lives and stronger bonds. When is it time to pull closer, and when is it time to let fly? From the lettuce fields of 1963 to the stores and streets of today’s Alisal, come celebrate the triumphs and tears of these remarkable women.

Plumas Negras es una obra de teatro basada en los cuentos de la comunidad del este de Salinas. El Teatro Cornerstone y la dramaturga Juliette Carrillo han pasado el ultimo año colectando historias de los residentes, narradores y lideres locales. La comunidad ha continuado a ser parte del desarrollo de la obra por medio de entrevistas, círculos de cuentos y lecturas en la comunidad.

Arraigado en el fértil paisaje de Salinas, Plumas Negras narra la historia de tres generaciones de mujeres trabajadoras en su lucha por forjar un mejor futuro y mejorar sus relaciones como familia. Cuando es el momento de renunciar y cuando es el momento de aferrarse a un sueño? La historia lo tomara desde los campos de lechuga de 1963 a las tiendas y calles de Alisal de hoy en día, venga a celebrar los triunfos y lágrimas de estas mujeres extraordinarias.
