CSULB and Cornerstone Present: THE ASSEMBLYWOMEN

Dear CTC Community,
We’re thrilled to share something exciting that we’ve been working on over the past few months. The California State University, Long Beach, in association with Cornerstone Theater Company, presents THE ASSEMBLYWOMEN co-directed Bonnie Dolan, Drew Kelly and by our Artistic Director, Sunder Ganglani, and adapted by playwright Kate Attwell.
THE ASSEMBLYWOMEN is a bold and brand-new original adaptation of Aristophanes’ Assemblywomen, opens in the Studio Theatre at California State University Long Beach.
Unapologetically queer, this reimagined Ancient Greek comedy follows a determined group of outsiders who disguise themselves as men to seize control of their government and usher in a radical queer democracy. The play interrogates power, identity, and the audacity of rewriting the rules. Bursting with subversive humor, defiant joy, and moments of profound vulnerability, THE ASSEMBLYWOMEN transforms an ancient Athenian farce into a contemporary rallying cry.
