Tuition
Tuition cost for Summer 2010 is $3000. Tuition includes the textbook Cornerstone Theater Company Community Collaboration Handbook: A Method, all curriculum materials, housing, meals for four weeks of onsite study and much more.
There is limited tuition assistance available through the generosity of a few sponsored scholarships. However, we cannot accommodate all requests for assistance. It is strongly recommended that applicants seek grants and scholarships or professional development funds through your employer, university or cultural and civic service organizations in your community to help you meet tuition and/or travel costs.
If you are applying for tuition assistance through Cornerstone, you must include a Statement of Need with your application. A Statement of Need is a short essay explaining your current financial circumstances and includes a specific amount of assistance that you would need to be able to attend Cornerstone Institute this summer.
See the Institute application page for further information.
Room & Board
Housing In 2010, the Institute will be living and working on the campus of a local school in Pacoima. Institute Students and staff will live in classrooms modified to serve as shared bedrooms. Of course, no alcohol or smoking is allowed on the school campus. More details will be posted here as they become available.
Meals Meals are provided. Breakfast and lunch are self-serve. Evening meals are a shared event, prepared by Institute staff and occasionally by volunteer guest chefs from within the company or community.
Transportation
Students are responsible for travel to and from the Institute. Air travel should be booked in and out of Burbank Airport (BUR) or Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Cornerstone will likely provide transportation between these airports and Pacoima, but we’ll know more about that later. If you want to bring your own car or a bicycle to the Institute, it would be helpful, but it is not required.
